London, United Kingdom - April 23, 2026 - Nscale has partnered with BT Group to deploy new sovereign AI data center infrastructure across the United Kingdom, aiming to expand domestic compute capacity and support secure, large-scale artificial intelligence adoption.

Under the agreement, Nscale plans to build up to 14 megawatts (MW) of AI-focused data center capacity across three existing BT sites. BT will provide the underlying infrastructure and connectivity, enabling the facilities to deliver high-performance computing services to both public and private sector organizations.

The data centers will be powered by full-stack AI infrastructure from NVIDIA, supporting advanced workloads such as AI model training, inference, and data analytics. The collaboration is designed to help organizations deploy AI applications at scale while maintaining control over sensitive data within national borders.

The initiative forms part of BT’s broader sovereign platform, which integrates connectivity, cloud, and AI services to meet growing demand for secure and compliant digital infrastructure. By hosting AI workloads domestically, the platform enables organizations to meet regulatory, data residency, and security requirements while reducing reliance on overseas infrastructure.

Executives from both companies emphasized that the partnership addresses rising demand for AI-ready infrastructure, particularly in sectors handling sensitive information such as healthcare, finance, energy, and public services. The deployment is expected to support a wide range of use cases, from advanced data analysis to mission-critical applications requiring high levels of resilience and control.

The collaboration also aligns with the UK government’s push to strengthen sovereign AI capabilities and digital infrastructure. Expanding domestic data center capacity is seen as critical to supporting economic growth, improving national resilience, and enabling broader adoption of AI technologies across industries.

In addition to infrastructure deployment, the partnership highlights the increasing convergence of telecommunications networks and data center ecosystems. By combining BT’s nationwide network with Nscale’s modular AI data center solutions, the companies aim to deliver scalable and flexible compute resources closer to end users.

The move reflects a broader global trend toward building sovereign AI infrastructure, where countries and enterprises seek greater control over data, compute resources, and digital operations. As demand for AI continues to surge, investments in localized, high-capacity data centers are becoming a key priority for both governments and industry players.

With this partnership, Nscale and BT are positioning themselves to play a central role in the UK’s evolving AI and data center landscape, supporting the next phase of digital transformation through secure and scalable infrastructure.
