Bengaluru, India - January 21, 2026 - Sify Technologies is set to open a new data center facility in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, India, marking the company’s latest expansion as demand for digital infrastructure accelerates across India’s technology hubs.
The development was confirmed by Karnataka Industries Minister M.B. Patil, who said the facility is expected to be inaugurated shortly. While Sify has not disclosed capacity or investment figures, the project adds to Karnataka’s growing pipeline of data center developments aimed at supporting cloud computing, enterprise IT, and emerging artificial intelligence workloads.
The planned inauguration comes amid heightened interest from domestic and global companies exploring data center investments in Karnataka, particularly around Bengaluru, which remains India’s largest technology and startup ecosystem. State officials have highlighted the availability of skilled talent, strong network connectivity, and proximity to major enterprise customers as key factors attracting new facilities.
Sify Technologies operates its data center business through Sify Infinit Spaces, which has been expanding its footprint across India with facilities designed for high-density compute and AI-ready workloads. The company already operates data centers in markets including Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam, serving hyperscale, enterprise, and government customers.
Government officials said Karnataka continues to engage with multiple technology and infrastructure companies as part of its broader strategy to position the state as a preferred destination for data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, and AI-related investments. Discussions with investors have focused on land availability, power reliability, water management, and policy support.
Industry analysts note that data center capacity in India is expanding rapidly as cloud adoption, data localization requirements, and AI deployment drive demand for new infrastructure. Karnataka, alongside Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, has emerged as one of the key markets competing for hyperscale and enterprise-led developments.
Sify has not yet provided a timeline for further expansion in the state or clarified whether additional facilities are planned beyond the upcoming inauguration. However, the move underscores the company’s intent to deepen its presence in key digital infrastructure markets as India’s data consumption and compute requirements continue to rise.
