Mumbai, India - March 19, 2026 - Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and ABB have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand collaboration in industrial AI, IT modernization, and AI-ready data center infrastructure. The agreement merges ABB’s expertise in electrification and automation with TCS’s strengths in AI, engineering, and digital transformation services.

The MoU focuses on upgrading ABB’s IT systems to enhance agility, security, and resilience. Planned improvements include enterprise application modernization, operational efficiency initiatives, and deployment of AI-driven management tools. These upgrades aim to optimize performance across ABB’s global operations while reducing complexity and improving scalability.

Industrial AI applications form a central pillar of the partnership. The companies plan to deploy digital twins, vision-based inspection systems, and OT-IT integration solutions to boost manufacturing efficiency and minimize downtime. These technologies provide real-time insights, enhance quality control, and strengthen automation across ABB’s industrial facilities.

Data center modernization is another key focus. TCS is expanding its AI-ready data center footprint in India, while ABB contributes technical expertise in electrification and automation. The joint efforts aim to build high-performance, scalable, and resilient environments capable of supporting industrial AI workloads and future enterprise growth.

Executives highlighted the strategic importance of the MoU. Morten Wierod, CEO of ABB, said, “Partnering with TCS enables us to scale innovation globally and develop smarter, more resilient systems. India is a key market for future infrastructure expansion.” K. Krithivasan, MD & CEO of TCS, added, “Combining ABB’s industrial leadership with TCS’s AI and engineering capabilities allows us to cocreate intelligent, future-ready solutions at scale.”

Industry analysts note that the MoU reflects a broader trend of integrating AI with industrial operations and IT infrastructure. Enterprises increasingly require partnerships that combine hardware, automation, and software expertise to accelerate digital transformation, optimize assets, and improve operational resilience.

The expanded collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between TCS and ABB. It positions both companies to strengthen their presence in global AI-enabled industrial and data center markets while accelerating deployment of next-generation digital technologies across manufacturing, enterprise IT, and industrial facilities.
