Terra Innovatum Targets Data Center Power Market With Microreactor Deployment for DIRECTV Latin America

New York, July 20, 2026 - Terra Innovatum Global has signed a commercial letter of intent (LOI) with Waiken ILW to deploy its SOLO™ micro-modular nuclear reactors at DIRECTV Latin America and SKY Brasil data center facilities, marking the company's first commercial initiative in Latin America and highlighting growing interest in behind-the-meter nuclear power for mission-critical digital infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Terra Innovatum's SOLO microreactor platform will provide an initial deployment of up to 8 MWe of behind-the-meter generating capacity to support broadcasting data centers in Argentina and Brazil. The project is intended to deliver resilient, on-site clean electricity while serving as a proof of concept for potential deployments across Waiken ILW's broader portfolio of technology, media, and enterprise businesses.

The announcement underscores a growing trend in the data center industry, where operators are evaluating alternative energy sources to address rising electricity demand, grid constraints, and sustainability targets. While much of the recent focus has centered on hyperscale AI campuses, Terra Innovatum said the agreement demonstrates that micro-modular reactors can also support communications, media, telecommunications, and other mission-critical digital infrastructure requiring continuous power availability.

Terra Innovatum's SOLO platform is designed as a factory-built microreactor capable of modular deployment, allowing customers to scale generation capacity as computing requirements grow. The company said the technology is intended to provide standardized, behind-the-meter power using a compact reactor architecture that can be deployed across multiple industries, including cloud infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, and industrial facilities.

For Waiken ILW, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of its digital infrastructure portfolio. The group operates technology, connectivity, content, and media businesses across Latin America and the Caribbean, with DIRECTV Latin America and SKY Brasil relying on data centers to support broadcasting and digital services throughout the region.

The agreement does not constitute a final deployment contract, as it is structured as a commercial LOI. However, it establishes a framework for future implementation and represents Terra Innovatum's first announced commercial deployment opportunity in the Latin American market.

The announcement also reflects increasing momentum behind nuclear technologies as a potential long-term power source for digital infrastructure. As AI workloads, cloud services, and high-density computing continue to increase electricity requirements, data center operators are exploring dedicated energy solutions that reduce dependence on constrained power grids while supporting around-the-clock operations. If the project advances beyond the LOI stage, it could become one of the region's earliest examples of micro-modular nuclear technology being integrated into operational data center infrastructure.
