Nebius to Invest USD 10 Billion in Finland AI Data Center as European Expansion Accelerates

Helsinki, Finland - March 31, 2026 - Nebius Group has announced plans to invest up to USD 10 billion in a new artificial intelligence-focused data center campus in Finland, marking one of the largest digital infrastructure projects in Europe as demand for AI computing capacity surges.

The facility will be developed in eastern Finland, with construction already underway in partnership with local developer Polarnode. The site is expected to deliver up to 310 megawatts of capacity once fully built, positioning it among the largest AI data centers in the region.

Nebius said the campus will be deployed in phases, with initial operations targeted to begin in 2027. The project is part of the company’s broader strategy to scale global AI infrastructure, with the Finland site becoming its largest deployment outside the United States and one of approximately 10 data center locations worldwide.

The facility is designed to support high-performance AI workloads, including model training and inference, and will operate as a shared infrastructure platform rather than being dedicated to a single customer. The company is targeting enterprise and hyperscale clients seeking access to large-scale compute capacity.

Finland was selected due to its combination of low-cost, renewable energy, strong grid infrastructure, and favorable climate conditions that enable efficient cooling. These factors are increasingly critical as operators look to manage the rising energy demands associated with AI systems.

According to the company, the site’s total power consumption at full capacity could be comparable to that of hundreds of thousands of households, highlighting the scale of infrastructure required to support next-generation AI applications.

The investment follows a series of recent expansions by Nebius across Europe and the United States, as the company aims to build out multi-gigawatt capacity globally. It has also secured significant long-term agreements with major technology companies, underscoring growing demand for dedicated AI infrastructure beyond traditional cloud providers.

Industry analysts note that projects of this scale reflect a broader shift toward “AI factories,” where data centers are purpose-built for high-density computing rather than general-purpose workloads. Europe, in particular, is emerging as a key battleground for such developments, driven by data sovereignty requirements and increasing enterprise adoption of AI technologies.

With the Finland project, Nebius is positioning itself to play a leading role in Europe’s evolving AI infrastructure landscape, as competition intensifies to deliver the power, scale, and efficiency required for the next wave of digital transformation.
