India – Data Center Country Overview (APAC)

India is one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by rapid digitization, cloud adoption, and strong demand from hyperscale operators, enterprises, and government initiatives. Growth in mobile internet usage, digital payments, e-commerce, and AI workloads continues to accelerate capacity expansion across major metro and emerging cities.

Government-backed digital programs, increasing data localization requirements, and rising demand for domestic cloud infrastructure are encouraging both domestic and international operators to invest in large-scale facilities. India’s improving fiber connectivity, expanding subsea cable landings, and growing renewable energy ecosystem further support long-term data center development.

While challenges such as power availability, land acquisition, and regulatory complexity remain, secondary markets are gaining traction due to scalability and cost advantages. Overall, India is positioning itself as a key long-term data center hub within APAC.
